Present: D. Falvey, MJ Kelsey, T. Massarelli (recording), J. Murdoch, K. Reynolds, K. Sprague, and M. Spectre
Absent: E. Ellickson, J. Glover, B. Lett, J. Prochownik, and D. Turner

K. Reynolds called the meeting to order at 11:05 AM and welcomed Mary Jane Kelsey, who is replacing M. Whited on the committee. Announcements were made regarding upcoming events in February which is Black History month.

STATUS REPORT:

  1. Staff Resource Library:
    Instructions for inputting records concerning monographs and videos have not yet been finalized by Joan Swanekamp. maureen Jones will help catalog the items. As mentioned previously, the videos will be housed in CCL and the monographs will be in circulation through SML. A key word and series mechanism for searching will be developed.
  2. Open Staff Resource Time in the electronic Classroom (EC)
    D. Falvey will be the T&D contact for the EC. The CD-ROM tutorials will be evaluated by the committee and will return by next meeting. The tutorials consist of:
    1. Microsoft Word - Proficient User
    2. Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 User Fundamentals
    3. Microsoft Windows 95- Fundamentals
    4. HTML Fundamentals
  3. Library Customer Service (LSC)
    Discussion ensued about what "it" is.
    Suggestions were made about how to make LSC work:
    1. Job exchange / cross-training
    2. Have reader's correct email addresses available on ORBIS to facilitate and ensure readers' renewals and requests are processed.
  4. Library Customer Service Subcommittee will meet Wednesday, January 28, to discuss strategies.
  5. Selection of web-delivered software training.
    A University-wide product (CBT) had been selected by ITS for a one year trial period. The Library is looking at obtaining the Professional Mentor, real-time learning about a range of work issues: employee relations, teamwork, customer service, managerial supervision, career tips; has the ability to download activities for team meetings etc.
  6. Advanced ORBIS searching
    Program being fleshed out and ready to be sent to NELINET for comments.
