Public Services
Library staff ensure and provide an environment of discovery and creativity,
successful use of the Library, and effective and integrated access to scholarly
resources. Opportunities to achieve these goals and exhibit excellence in public
service occur during any and all interactions between Library readers and staff.
To this end, Library staff members are encouraged to participate in skills training
activities that may enhance and improve public services. Access Services, including
Circulation and Privileges, as well as Research Services and Collections and
the Map Collection provide training on an irregular basis for all appropriate
Yale University Library (YUL) staff.
Training in public services are offered through Library Human Resources (LHR)
In addition to the classes offered through LHR, information on previously offered
training opportunities in the individual areas is available. Supervisors are
free to use these materials to train individual staff and staff is free to use
the materials for review.
