thing you need to know how to do in order to complete a work task? Have you ever
needed to quickly translate a page from Japanese to English or set a filter in
Access? Now you
can tap the resources, talents, and experiences of individuals in our organization
with the expertise to assist you with a specific problem. Just click on the links
in the "Quick Links" box on the right to access the Each One Teach One
(EOTO) Databases.
Two components
The
Each One Teach One (EOTO) databases provide the names of staff volunteers who
are knowledgeable in one or more areas, such as a language or the use of a piece
of software and who are willing to assist other staff members in resolving minor
work challenges. Staff members seeking assistance will contact volunteers by phone
or email.
The
EOTO directory has two components, a language database and a skills database.
1. The language database contains the names of staff
members with language skills who are willing to assist other staff members with:
Translating relatively short pieces
Transliterating a Chinese, Hebraic, or Arabic words and names.
Using diacritics
Providing English language assistance for non-native English speakers.
Note: Volunteers
listed in the language database will not provide formal language instruction. 2.
The skills database identifies staff members who are willing to share both
technical and non-technical skills across a variety of work-related topics such
as: Uploading
images to a web page
Writing grant proposals

examples Note: Please
contact your departmental expert
user or workstation
support for information or instruction on installing, configuring or updating
software on your Library workstation. Please direct any questions about Orbis|Voyager
to your supervisor. General
Guidelines
Access is available to the Yale University Library staff
Participation is strictly voluntary
Individuals who would like to volunteer must first get the approval of their supervisor
Consulting sessions usually run from 10-20 minutes in length.
Note: Web
& Workstation Support has drafted some Workstation Best Practices that also
provide guidance as to when staff should refer their questions to their expert
user. The guidelines can be found at: Http://www.library.yale.edu/wsg/docs/workstationbestpract.html.
In
order to preserve the integrity of the Orbis|Voyager database, please continue
to refer your questions to your supervisor or his/her designee. It is important
to strictly adhere to these guidelines; the EOTO is not intended to replace
these practices. Information
