Staff Training & Organizational Development Committee
The Yale University Library Strategic Plan highlights the importance of becoming
a “flexible and agile organization.” Among the priorities
required to achieve flexibility and agility is the call to: foster an environment
of excellence and continuous learning, in which all members of our Library community
develop their skills and potential.
The work of the Staff Training and Organizational Development Committee will
be driven by the Library’s Strategic Plan and Core Values - i.e.,
Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Creativity/Flexibility and Open Communication.
As our name suggests, our committee has a dual focus:
- To continuously support the personal and professional development of
Library personnel, including but not limited to the attainment of the technical
skills/knowledge required to accomplish the Library’s core tasks/functions.
- To work always with the aim of evolving/developing the Library as a
vital/integral institution within Yale University.
We will do this by researching and recommending:
- Strategies for facilitating continuing education at all levels in support
of the Library's mission
- Training and development activities that promote leadership skills/abilities
among all library staff
- The knowledge and methods required to effectively manage the many transitions
integral to the evolution of the Library – i.e., the means to become
a “flexible and agile” organization.
