Cross Training Design
and Roll out Team Charge
A small but focused team
has now been formed to review the focus group data, identify existing cross
training models within the library, and to propose new cross training designs
that will enhance the capabilities of library staff.
Specifically, Library cross
training programs will
· Increase
individual and organizational capability to achieve the mission of the Library,
by providing on-the-job experiences that develop staff members skills on one
of 3 levels: enrichment, skill building or mastery
· Increase
the understanding of library work processes and communication across library
departments and units.
· Develop
the flexibility and agility of library staff members and departments.
An expected outcome will
be to identify 1-3 cross training program designs, which various library departments
may then develop. We hope to have 1-5 libraries or units develop pilot programs
to offer to interested library staff. A longer-term objective would be to have
these program offerings accessible through a web interface.
