AOL for Free Virus Hoax and Truth (fwd)

We keep getting questions about this "virus," so I'm sending this message
to a wider audience than originally received it.

Subject: AOL for Free Virus Hoax and Truth

A staff member passed on a posting to a listserv about the AOL for Free
"virus," that, like most of these postings, is slightly hysterical, but
this time partially true. There is a "trojan horse" program that actually
exists, that could damage your computer if you execute it. There is no
AOL for Free "virus." If this interests you, check out the Symantec
bulletin on it at

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/data/aol4free.html

The Symantec site is a very good place to go for reasoned and actually
useful information on viruses on all major platforms.
