Y2K Microsoft warning spam message.....
If you get a message saying something like:
"If you haven't seen this yet, it's good information....
When I received this and checked my computer I found it to be set
up to fail. I wonder why Microsoft set this default that way. I fixed mine
and I recommend you check and fix your computers. If you are running
Windows, this is a fix for a small Y2K problem
almost everyone should do. After running this quick little test, much to my
surprise, I learned that my computer would have failed on 01-01-2000 due to
a computer clock glitch. Fortunately, a quick fix is provided, should your
computer fail the test. I submit the following for your consideration:"
This email message goes on to tell you that the way you display the date in
NT or Windows 98 is the way it is 'feeds application software'. NOT! The
date is stored in the PC's BIOS, it matters not if you set the date on your
PC to display in NT as mm/dd/yy or mm/dd/yyyy...!
This is SPAM.... an email chain letter and should be ignored. Do not
forward this message on to 'everyone you know' (hint: email messages that
tell you to send them on to everyone you know are usually SPAM!).
If you have questions, please ask your expert user or have them contact the
Workstation Support Group.
If such problems existed, you would get information about it from the
Workstation Support Group, we wouldn't let all the PC's in the library fail
because they display the date 'wrong' in NT!
