Open forum on mentoring

	SCOPA (the Standing Committee On Professional Awareness) invites 
all library professionals to an open forum on Tuesday, October 5 at 10:00 
A.M. at the SML Lecture Hall to discuss the creation of a mentoring system 
within the Yale University Libraries.
	In May, SCOPA met with librarians at the I and II rank to discuss 
their concerns and needs for professional development.  One suggestion 
that came out of that session was for SCOPA to establish an informal 
mentoring system that would enable newer library professionals to benefit 
from the expertise amassed by their more experienced colleagues.
	At the October 5th meeting we would like to get input from the 
perspective of those individuals who would like to serve as mentors. 
 Please come and contribute your thoughts, expectations and concerns for 
such a mentoring program.
