Administrative change

As explained in an earlier message, starting on 1 October Danuta Nitecki,
Ann Okerson, and I will provide senior administrative leadership for the
programmatic activities of the library.  As our third Associate University
Librarian position has been vacant for two years, formalizing the shift
from a three to a two AUL structure will involve few dramatic changes.

I will feel the change most keenly as Joan Swanekamp steps down from her
responsibility of representing the library's technical services on the
Library Management Team.  Joan has done this most ably over the last two
years and has brought valued experience, good judgment, and a deep
commitment to excellent service to all LMT deliberations, whether they
concerned technical services or the myriad of other issues before LMT.  I
personally am much in Joan's debt for the thoughtful leadership she has
given to the library in the extraordinary role she has had.  She has my
heartfelt admiration and gratitude.
