Present: Paul Conway (chair), Sue Crockford-Peters, Ralph Franklin, Hideo
Kaneko, Kenny Marone, David Stern, Diane Turner

The third meeting of the Library Human Resources Advisory Council convened
in SML 410.

1) Minutes: The Council approved the minutes of the 10/1/99 meeting as
written.

2) HR Activities: The Council discussed in some detail the draft outline of
LHR activities and responsibilities.  The Council suggested ways to clarify
the presentation and reorganize the list into distinct categories of
activities. When completed, the outline will summarize the range of
responsibilities of the LHR staff. The outline is intended to help library
staff understand those responsibilities and know who to contact in the LHR
offices for information and action. The Council will consider another draft
of the outline at its next meeting.

3) Advisory Council Agenda: The Council refined a preliminary list of
topics for discussion. It added two issues to its list that were submitted
by library staff, bringing the total to 32 issues divided across the
following six categories: procedures documentation; communication;
training; professional development; organization and services; and
miscellaneous. The Council identified ten issues that warrant priority
attention.  At its next meeting, it will define these ten issues more
specifically and prepare to communicate its priority agenda to the library
staff community.
