Batch Match Load (ORBIS)

Last night's batch match load was a success. 42,894 preliminary
bibliographic records representing older, uncataloged material currently
held in the "frontlog" were replaced with WorldCat records. 4,262 of the
47,156 records provided by OCLC were not loaded because the corresponding
Orbis record (1) contained field 927 or (2) was deleted or suppressed.

An Orbis record that has been replaced with an OCLC "batch match" record
will have the following characteristics:

035 [OCLC number] (e.g. 035 :: $a (OCoLC)ocm34210856)
927 [OCBMMMDDYY] (e.g. 947 :: $a OCBM110899)
947 [ORBIS KEY] (e.g. 947 :: $a FKX1668)

Cataloging staff who had to prevent overlay of a particilar record by
putting a "dummy" 927 field in the record are now reminded to complete the
record and update the 927 field (to 927 'rlin' or 927 'tape').
