Forum on Scholarly Electronic Publishing



The first forum in the SCOPA Fall Series on Scholarly Electronic Publishing will take place on Monday, October 23.


Forum I -- Trends and Visions
        Date: Monday, October 23, 2000
        Time: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
        Location: Sterling Memorial Library Lecture Hall
        Topic: The speakers will provide a "big picture" perspective of trends in electronic scholarly publishing. From his or her unique perspective, the speaker will provide an overview of the most interesting recent developments in electronic scholarly publishing and will deliver a vision of the direction scholarly publishing is headed. The speakers will discuss what they deem to be the most  important question that should be asked as we begin to think about how scholarly communication  will take place in the future.

          Wendy P. Lougee, Associate Director for Digital Library Initiatives, University Library, University of Michigan
          Robert E. Apfel, Robert Higgin Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Visiting Professor of Architecture, Yale University


This is the first forum of three.  The forums are designed to build upon one another, but you do not need to be present at all of them to benefit from one.

Forum II- Models, Trials and Theories - Thursday, November 9, SML Lecture Hall, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. 
Forum III - Impact on Information Services, - Monday, November 23, SML Lecture Hall, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
