Multilanguage Support on Library Public Workstations
Over the course of this past summer, the Library Workstation Support Group
tested, installed and configured Library public workstations to display a
variety of languages (including but not limited to: Chinese, Japanese,
Korean, Thai, Hebrew and Arabic) in both Netscape and Microsoft Internet
Explorer. We also support input of CJK on these machines for searching.
What workstations are capable of multilanguage support...? ... all
workstations in the SML PRR, all new Dell public machines installed in the
current round of equipment requests and all machines configured for persons
with disabilities (these are installed in A&A, KSL, Engineering, the SML
L&B Room, CCL, SSL, and GovDocs).
How do you direct patrons to these workstations... tell them to look for
the PC's with our 'Multilanguage Support' label on them ( shown here:
http://www.library.yale.edu/wsg/docs/multilanguage/samples.htm and designed
by Meng Tang of the WSG ). This samples page will also give you an idea of
the variety of languages that can be displayed on using the Web Browsers on
these machine.
If you have any questions about these workstations, please send them my way.
