interested in electronic publishing/digital collections projects?

By way of introduction, I am the new Digital Collections Specialist in
Electronic Collections. Over the past few months, I've spoken to many
librarians here at Yale about our digital conversion and electronic
publishing projects. There are quite a few projects here at Yale, (see:
http://www.library.yale.edu/ecollections/yulpubl.html) and I learned about
many others that are in the planning stages.

Many people have mentioned that they would like see better information
sharing among people working with digital collections. We already have
extensive and helpful web pages for supporting the electronic resources we
buy (see http://www.library.yale.edu/ecollections/eresmanage.html).

I would like to create some kind of information space or framework for
those of us who are interested in creating digital content, especially
projects based on Yale's collections. While I don't want to add more
meetings to everyone's already burdened schedule, it would be nice to get a
group together in person as well to discuss this framework and other topics
in digital conversion projects in general.

I would like to gather new ideas and approaches from as many staff as
possible, especially those of you who are managing digitization projects or
are planning a project. I would also like to include as many sides of the
projects as possible: technical aspects, selection of material, interface
design, budgeting.

Please email me (jennifer.weintraub@yale.edu) if you are interested in
helping create a framework for sharing information and support for
electronic publishing and digital conversion projects.

Jennifer
