Old Front Door / Research Workstation
Now that the new Library Front Door has been so successfully launched, I
thought some of you might be interested in the following historical view of
early Research Workstation and Orbis web pages from 1996 - five full years ago.
May 1996 text-only Research Workstation page and associated trial version
of the Orbis "quilt":

August 1996 public introduction of the RW "shapes" page and final version
of the Orbis "quilt" with "Standard Orbis" in the primary position
(designed by John Coleman).

An alternative card-catalog-based graphical theme for the Front Door and
Orbis pages considered, hotly debated, and rejected in favor of the bolder
modern design.
