Results of canned food drive

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The 2001 M&PSA Canned Food Drive was completed about a month ago, but
I wanted to send out this one last message regarding the results. 

Melissa Nicholson, marketing coordinator for Connecticut Food Bank,
writes: 

"Thank you [Yale Library] for donating 300 pounds of food to
Connecticut Food Bank.  This donation will help greatly to alleviate
hunger for many families in Connecticut.  The need for food
continues to increase in Connecticut as our agencies continue to feed
more people.  Last year, we distributed over 9 million pounds of
food to local agencies that feed the hungry in our community. 
Unfortunately, food donations have not kept up with this increased
demand, which is why your donation is so important. Thank you for your
generosity."

By my own rough calculation, I believe our contribution provided meals
for about 220 men, women, and children.
