Director of Library Preservation-Candidates/Reminder

Dear YULIBers: This is message comes as a reminder about the public
presentation of Richard Frieder, candidate for Preservation Director.
See below for Wednesday time and place. Sincerely, Ann Okerson

___

As many of you know, the position of Director of Library Preservation was
advertised late last year, after a careful review and revision of the job
posting by many interested departments and staff. The search committee has
selected candidates to be interviewed between early April and early May.
Since this is such a key position in a department that serves so many
libraries across campus, in such critical ways, and since we are all keen
to expand Yale's preservation efforts if we possibly can, the Committee
has asked each candidate to give a public talk describing either an
approach to preservation or an area of preservation in which he or she has
been particularly active, innovative, or has a deep interest.

The first talk will be given by candidate Richard Frieder, who currently
serves as part-time interim head of the Preservation Department. It is
scheduled for Wednesday, April 3rd, 2 p.m., in the Library Lecture Hall.
Richard's topic will be, "Some Thoughts on My Experience in Preservation,
and on the Future of the Yale Preservation Program."

The talks will each last for about 20 minutes, and the remainder of the
scheduled hour will offer ample time for dialog with the candidate and any
questions/answers the audience may have of him or her. If you cannot
attend but would like to direct questions to the candidates, please send
me a note.

All staff are cordially invited to attend this session, insofar as
scheduling of work and consultation with your supervisors permits such
attendance. We hope to see many of you there.

The second talk will be announced by topic and location (we cannot get the
SML lecture hall at the scheduled time) next week. It will be given on 9
April.

Sincerely, Ann Okerson
