Edite Muizniece, Baltic intern at SRR

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the arrival of our third Baltic Library Intern,
Ms. Edite Muizniece, from the Latvian Academic Library in Riga, Latvia. Ms.
Muizniece is a senior librarian who works in the Acquisitions and
Cataloging Department of the Latvian Academic Library. Edite holds an MA
degree in English Philology from the University of Latvia.

The internship includes professional-level work with the Slavic and East
European Collection as well as a rotation through other departments of the
Yale University Library system. In order for Edite to gain insights into
the operations of several major American research libraries she will also
visit the Library of Congress, Harvard University Library, Columbia
University Library and the Slavic and Baltic Division of the New York
Public Library.

To assure the success of this internship we hope that Edite will have an
opportunity to visit the many departments of the Yale Library system. We
would be grateful if you would extend an invitation to her to tour your
department and/or unit during her four-months stay at Yale. If you wish to
make an appointment with Edite Muizniece please call the Slavic Reading
Room at 432-1861, or contact Mr. William Larsh or myself by e-mail.

In ending I would like to inform you that the Baltic Library Internship is
funded by the generous gift of aYale alumnus, Dr. Kirstaps Keggi, an
orthopaedic surgeon whose family has roots in the Baltic countries. You
might also be interested to know that this is our tenth intern from Central
and Eastern Europe and that we are proud of our long term commitment to
keep the internship program up and running.

Sincerely,

Tanja
