As your friendly Collections Care Librarian, I strongly urge that the "good 
home" Steven seeks for his paperclips is not library material.  Otherwise 
you will find that in high humidity conditions they become less well 
behaved and rust.  Unless the paperclip is one of the collections-friendly 
plastic sort, of course.

I understand that if you place a shoebox full of wire paper clips in the 
back of a closet and leave the door shut long enough, the clips evolve into 
wire clothes hangers.  Unfortunately, they are usually tangled 
together.  Hope this helps!
