End of NOTIS | Start of archive record databases
At the end of December while most of us are enjoying the holiday recess,
our colleagues at ITS will bring down the old NOTIS system for the last
time, dismantle it, and ship it out. NOTIS will no longer be available for
searching.
NEW ARCHIVE RECORD DATABASES
Records unique to NOTIS such as paid circulation fines/fees, closed
purchase orders, paid invoices and old funds will be available in a
read-only mode in two archive record databases. These archive databases
are currently being built by Systems. They are:
1) Circulation archive database
This database includes all patron records and any associated fines and
fees. It is searchable by patron (charge id, name) and item (barcode number).
2) Acquisitions archive database
This database includes all invoices, purchase orders, funds and vendors.
It is searchable by NOTIS and vendor invoice numbers, purchase order
number, PTAEO, vendor name/code/ORACLE#, fund code and name.
Neither database includes bibliographic information such as title, author
and call number. Instead the archive databases retain NOTIS record key and
barcode numbers which, when searched in Voyager, will return bibliographic
data.
TRAINING
The web-based interfaces to these databases are very easy to use. Staff
training in the use of these databases will occur in early January as a
series of database demonstrations. Stay tuned for announcements about these
presentations.
If you have any questions about the end of NOTIS or the archive database
project please let me know.
Thanks,
-Audrey
