Eileen Smith, new librarian on the Rare Book Team
I am happy to announce that Eileen Smith joined the Rare Book Team as a
Catalog Librarian II on Aug. 26th. Eileen comes to us from the Huntington
Library, where she had been a Catalog Librarian since 2001. She is an
active member of the Bibliographic Standards Committee of the Rare Books
and Manuscripts Section of ACRL/ALA.
From 1999-2001 Eileen was a Catalog Librarian at the John Carter Brown
Library doing original cataloging of 16th-19th century Mexican imprints in
Spanish, Latin and indigenous languages for an NEH grant project. Earlier
she held library jobs at the Special Collections Library, University of
Arizona, Tuscon; Pima Community College, Tuscon; University of Minnesota
Librairies; and the College of St. Thomas, School of Divinity Library, in
St. Paul, Minn.
Eileen received her M.L.S. from the School of Information Resources and
Library Science, University of Arizona, and her B.A. with major in theology
and additional concentrations in Spanish and Classics from the College of
St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minn.
