Columbus House Book & Magazine Drive

COLUMBUS HOUSE BOOK DRIVE - Wednesday May 18th - Friday May 27th

Dear Library Colleagues,

Last year, the Library Staff Association (LiSA) sponsored a book drive for one of New Haven's very worthy homeless organizations, Columbus House. We committed to build a library in one of their facilities and thanks to the support of Library staff, this was enormously successful with about 2,000 books and some shelving being donated. Columbus House has really appreciated the support from the library and has reported that having books around has made a real and positive difference for many of the residents.

This year, we wanted to continue to support this same cause, this time focusing on the Women's facility at Columbus House.

Boxes are currently situated at the libraries listed below where you are invited to deposit books in good condition, both fiction or non-fiction which might be described as 'casual' reading. We would prefer not to receive any encyclopedias or heavy, academic books. New or like-new magazines, especially with articles of interest for women, would also be greatly appreciated.

To find out more about Columbus House, you may visit their web site at: http://www.columbushouse.org/
