RLIN21 mandatory upgrade and push
Good morning All.
As of this moment (and things could change), the mandatory RLIN21 client
upgrade is still scheduled for today, (May 23rd). We can do our work
using the old (current) client until noon. At noon, the old client is
scheduled to cease working.
However, the new client will not be available for testing until 1:00 p.m.
our time. Please do not download the new client yourself!!! Doing so
could cause many problems. This afternoon we hope to be able to
access the new client, download it, and test it. Then we will need to
configure the new client for the push out to all workstations. If
everything goes according to plan, and the new client actually works, we
hope to have it out to everyone by tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.
SUMMARY: Therefore, there will be no access to RLIN21 from noon,
Monday the 23rd, until Tuesday morning, the 24th.
To quote from the Post-Migration Page (last updated on the 18th) (
http://www.rlg.org/en/page.php?Page_ID=400):
"This new version of the client contains expanded help; allows
setting Saved status as the default for your record entry and update;
enables setting export profiles for automatic
export of any record created or updated; and supports NACO name
authority work."
NACO NOTE: Although the new version includes NACO work
functionality, no one will be able to create or update name authority
records until May 31st.
Searching the name authority file will be possible through Friday, May
27th.
There will be no access to Name Authority files from the evening of May
27th through the 30th.
We sort of suspect there might be at least one more client update after
this one.
