Configure Virus Management and Spam Management

We have had a few complaints that the Netsky virus is infecting the Eudora spool, which then halts the downloading of messages. As the virus comes in, Norton Anti-Virus is sending the Eudora spool file to Quarantine. So the machine isn't actually being infected.

Here is the work around:
Have the user delete the message(s) that contain(s) the infected file(s) in Web Mail.

Also there is a new Virus Management tool that can be configured. What this will do is send all .exe and .zip files to the "Potentially Infected" folder. Word and Excel files will not be placed in this folder.

To configure Virus Management:
1. Go to the Web Mail login page. https://www.mail.yale.edu/
2. Select "E-mail Config Tool".
3. Click the Continue button.
4. Log in to CAS Central Authentication Service.
5. Select Configure on the Virus Quarantine line.
6. Click the Yes button near "Send Messages with renamed attachments to folder, Potentially Infected".
7. Click the "Update Virus Quarantine Configuration" button.
8. Click the "Logout" button.
9. Then click "Logout of CAS".
10. Make sure you regularly review the contents of this folder.

Here is how to review your Web Mail folders:

Also note that the Spam Management feature has been improved recently. It now contains an option for filtering non-English character sets into the Tagged-Spam folder. You should not use this feature if you regularly receive legitimate non-English E-mail.

To configure Spam Management:
1. Visit this page https://www.mail.yale.edu/
2. Select E-mail Config tool.
3. Click Continue.
4. Log onto CAS Central Authentication Service.
5. On the Spam management line select Configure.
6. Select YES to Send tagged spam to folder, "Tagged-Spam".
7. Optionally you can configure "Send Messages with non-English characters in the subject to Tagged-Spam".
8. Select YES to Automatically delete 30-day-old messages in Tagged-Spam.
9. Click the Update Spam Management configuration button.
10. Occasionally check the Tagged-Spam folder in Web Mail to verify that valid messages have not been filtered.
