Appropriate
Use of Yale Library Web Server Userids, Accounts, and File Space
Yale Library staff
members who have responsibility for creating or maintaining Yale Library
web pages are assigned personal userids, accounts, and file space on the
Yale Library web server (lsounix1.library.yale.edu). Staff members with
such responsibility may publish appropriate professional, work-related,
and personal information in the Yale Library web server directory that
has been assigned to them (/home/userid).
Information published
on the Yale Library web server in these personally assigned directories
must conform to the following:
- Information
published in these personally assigned directories may not be in conflict
with the mission and goals of Yale University and Yale University Library.
- Information
published in these personally assigned directories may not be in conflict
with the regulations in the Yale
University ITS Policy Documents.
- Intellectual
property rights including, in particular, copyright laws as they apply
to software and electronic forms of information must be observed. For
particulars, see the Yale
University WWW Copyright Policy.
- The Yale Library
web server is not to be used for hosting a third party, for the benefit
of third parties, for advertising, or for other commercial activities
without authorization from Yale University Library.
Each
staff member assigned a Yale Library web server userid and account is responsible
for the use or misuse of that userid and account. Information published within
a personally assigned directory is the responsibility of the staff member. If
the account is found to have violated Yale Library or University policy, the staff
member may be subject to Library, University, and/or legal sanctions. Yale Library
does not review or approve any information published in personally assigned directories.
Web pages created for Yale Library or its units must reside in the production
directory (/usr/web/) or appropriate sub-directories of the Library web
