SCREEN INTERPRETATION
This screen and the following interpretation applies to the NOTIS screeens: Subject Guide,
Title Guide, Author Guide.
Search Type (Choose Search)
When search is submitted with 'Choose Type' active in the Search Type window, pass the
entire search string to NOTIS. 'Choose Type' is essentially command line searching.
Otherwise, prepend to the search string as follows:
Title gets 't='
Author gets 'a='
Subject gets 's='
Keyword gets 'k='
Call Number(LC) gets 'cl='
Call Number(Local) gets 'co='
Call Number(SuDoc) gets 'cs='
Search Results
- Text from NOTIS reads "#### Entries Found." When ####=5000, change text to read
"5000 Or More Entries Found (First 5000 Display)."
For Search results less than 5000 do not change text.
Example:
| Search Request: S=DOGS |
Yale Library Catalog |
| Search Results: 5000 Or More Entries Found (First 5000 Display) |
Subject Guide |
Index Entries
- Surround index entry numbers with underscores (e.g., _1_) to extend the target area.
Make the index entry numbers the links to the next screen. From the Guide screen, clicking
an index entry number is like the NOTIS action, "Type number to begin display within
index range."
