Task Force on Vision and Directions:
CHARGE
DRAFT September 15, 2005
Task Force on Catalog Department Vision and Directions
Background and Assumptions:
The Catalog Department recognizes that over the next several years there will be significant changes in the nature of the materials we catalog. We expect increased acquisition of commercially-produced networked digital resources, and an expansion of Library programs to create home-grown digital content. At the same time, we expect the Library to continue acquiring print materials from around the world in large quantities.
The Catalog Department assumes that the size of the Department staff will not increase relative to the increase in volume of materials requiring bibliographic control and access. The Department assumes a need to address current policies and procedures and recommend changes that will create new efficiencies and ensure a continuation of seamless, integrated access to all of the Library’s collections.
