Open access and the rock music industry
An interesting story from USA Today, along the same lines as open
access and journal publishing, except that it discusses how some bands
actually benefit from allowing free access to, and file sharing of,
their music.
In one example, the band Wilco had record setting sales (for them) when
they released an album that had been freely available on file sharing
services for nearly a year.
