Changes in purchasing model for 2006 as Kidney International and The Journal of Investigative Dermatology move to Nature Publishing Group
The following announcement affects 2006 subscriptions to Kidney
International and The Journal of Investigative Dermatology. Apologies for
any cross-posting.
Effective January 2006, Kidney International (International Society of
Nephrology) and The Journal of Investigative Dermatology (Society for
Investigative Dermatology, Inc.) will move from Blackwell Publishing to
Nature Publishing Group (NPG). The move to NPG has resulted in a new
purchasing model.
>From January 1, 2006, Kidney International and The Journal of
Investigative Dermatology will each be available as a site license (online
access) and/or a print only subscription. The new model, consistent with
the NPG portfolio, enables institutions to select the media most
appropriate for users and their content usage patterns.
NPG has a flexible site license allowing institutions to select the
publications most suitable for users. Further information about site

Site license access to these journals will now include:
* Access to all editorial content back to 1997 or 1998
* Articles published online weekly, within 5 weeks of acceptance
* A newly designed website fully integrated on the nature.com platform
* Content listed in CrossRef Search
* COUNTER-compliant statistic reports to comprehensively measure
online usage
* Web-based help pages and trained customer service staff dedicated to
supporting institutional customers

NPG sales representatives will be contacting many customers over the
following months to ensure online access is not interrupted. Customers
are required to complete an NPG site license agreement or addendum to an
existing NPG agreement.
How to order a print subscription
Place your order with NPG's Print Subscription Services or through your
regular agent. Agents have been informed of the change in publisher and
purchasing model.

>From January 2006 both journals will see further changes to improve the
content and readability for print and online users, including:
* A new editor-in-chief for Kidney International: Qais Al-Awqati, MB,ChB
* New editorial features
* An internal re-design for the print edition

this change will improve the level of service for readers and for
institutional customers.
