The so-called "free rider" problem
I have heard it said, as an argument against open access, that there is a
"free rider" problem - that corporations would benefit from research
funded by taxpayers. One small problem with this argument: corporations
pay taxes too! As taxpayers, corporations have just as much right to read
the results of taxpayer-funded research as every other taxpayer.
