Society for Scholarly Publishing Announces Conference Travel
Grant Program - Applications Due February 15, 2006
The Board of Directors of the Society for Scholarly Publishing
(SSP) announces its new travel grant program. Students of
publishing and information science, and early career publishing
professionals in the first three years of employment, are invited
to apply for one of 10 awards that SSP will make available in
2006. The awards will support travel to and attendance at the SSP
Annual Meeting, which takes place June 7 to 9 in Crystal City,
Virginia.
Successful applicants will be granted free registration at the
Annual Meeting and will be eligible for re-imbursement of up to
$1,000 for travel and lodging expenses incurred to attend the
meeting. Applications must be completed online and are available
at http://www.sspnet.org <http://www.sspnet.org/> . The
application deadline is February 15, 2006. Grant awardees will be
selected and notified on March 31, 2006.
The SSP Board has developed several supporting programs that will
help grant awardees optimize their experience. Awardees will be
paired with mentors who hold senior management positions within
SSP member organizations. Mentors will help grantees plug into
the educational and networking opportunities available at the
Annual Conference. Additionally, the 2006 Conference Program will
offer an introductory level session track designed to engage
those who are relatively new to the industry.
