RE: The religion of peer review
It is not necessary to rely on argumentation and personal
experiences on the topic of peer review.
Unlike many of the problems we must deal with, there is
considerable evidence of a high scientific standard, nicely
summarized by T. jefferson et al. in JAMA v.287(21) June 5, 2002
p 2786-90, + online tables.
This is part of a comprehensive Peer Review Congress constituting
almost all of that issue, p. 2759- 2871 + online tables, all
available OA at
http://jama.ama-assn.org/content/vol287/issue21/index.dtl
Those wishing to contribute opinions or anecdotes should first
read the evidence.
