Wiley Acquires Clinical Cardiology and Scanning Journals
Expands publisher's clinical and microscopy portfolio
Hoboken, N.J., August 16, 2006-John Wiley & Sons, Inc., announced
today that it has acquired publishing assets from the Clinical
Cardiology Publishing Company (CCPC) and the Foundation for
Advances in Medicine and Science (FAMS). Wiley will assume
publishing for two peer-reviewed journals, Clinical Cardiology:
An Indexed and Peer-Reviewed Journal for Advances in the
Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease and SCANNING, The Journal of
Scanning Microscopies.
The acquisition complements Wiley's list of journals and adds two
respected publications to the publisher's portfolio. "We are
delighted to further strengthen our clinical and microscopy
portfolios with these two titles," said Vickie Thaw, Vice
President and Publisher for Medical Science Journals, John Wiley
& Sons, Inc. "This acquisition enables us to expand our presence
in these dynamic subject areas and provide practical, must-have
information to specialists as well as academics and libraries."
"We are confident that under Wiley's direction the journals will
retain their positions of leadership and continue to make
significant contributions to the fields of cardiology and the
microscopies," said Ms. Tony Bourgholtzer, Chairman of FAMS.
As an indexed, peer-reviewed, controlled circulation journal,
Clinical Cardiology offers up-to-date research and information on
advances in the treatment of cardiovascular disease, namely how
clinical cardiovascular research translates into practice,
interventional techniques, pathology, pharmacology, biochemistry,
and rehabilitation, among others. Clinical Cardiology is
distributed to more than 33,000 physicians, researchers, and
pharmaceutical professionals in the United States.
A peer-reviewed journal, SCANNING, The Journal of Scanning
Microscopies is published six times a year and delivered to
approximately 3,500 scanning electron microscopists. The journal
covers the latest research and developments in scanning electron,
scanning probe, and scanning optical microscopies, as well as the
current and future applications of this technology to clinical
medicine and bioscience.
