Knovel Library Receives Highly Commended Award for Publishing
Innovation from ALPSP
Knovel receives award for publishing innovation at last night's
annual ALPSP awards dinner in London.
London, 15th September 2006 - Knovel Corporation had the pleasure
of receiving a highly commended award in publishing innovation
from the Association of Learned and Professional Society
Publishers at last night's awards ceremony held at the historic
Armourers' Hall in central London. On acceptance of the award
Paul Walker of Knovel UK said "Innovation has been the key to
Knovel's successes to date, and we are delighted to receive
recognition of this from ALPSP. Major new developments in
Knovel's publishing platform are due over the next 12 months and
we intend to continue developing the publishing platform with
pioneering enhancements."
The Knovel Library was trialled and reviewed by the ALPSP panel
of judges and has been given the honour of receiving this award
which is for a significantly innovative approach to any aspect of
publication - in this case 'a novel type of electronic
publication or service'.
Chris Forbes, CEO of Knovel Corporation said "We at Knovel are
honoured by ALPSP's recognition of winning a Highly Commended
Award in Publishing Innovation. Our vision is to have Knovel's
data rich information technology used by all scientists and
engineers worldwide. To be recognized by the ALPSP, who play such
an important role of communication to its community and members,
speaks volumes."
About the Knovel Library
The Knovel Library (www.knovel.com <http://www.knovel.com/> ) is
unique in that it, not only enables scientists and engineers to
find and use authoritative Science and Technology reference
works, but use the data contained within them via embedded
analytical tools. These tools include 'live' tables, graph
plotters, equation plotters and digitized graphs which allow
users to customize data in tables as you would in an Excel
spreadsheet; extract data built on equations and plot graphs
using the coefficients; capture coordinates; and plot graphs from
the raw data to compare variables and perform 'what if'
experiments.
Knovel is the only online library that has added value by taking
tables and graphs from reference works and creating easy to use
interactive tools, increasing the productivity and saving time
for researchers and engineers by enabling them to apply
experiments and data directly to their own work.
