Re: OSU Press Open Access Initiative
Bernie Sloan has pointed out an interesting new model. I have on
about ten of these books and have found those clicked on to be
books of some age (oldest 1963 and newest 1998) which I assume no
longer have any serious sale in print. Other publishers have
tended to offer such books using print on demand so that they
remain available in print at a price but Ohio has made them free
without a print option. As they are free there is no chance of a
print option. As far as I know most publishers who offer free
versions online have done so in part at least to market their
print editions. Unfortunately the Press does not really explain
how this offer relates to its ongoing program although the
preliminary blurb suggests that some of the books are new.
