O'Reilly blog
There is a brilliant and incisive post on Tim O'Reilly's blog
(brought to my attention by Peter Brantley) on the linkage
between offline and online marketing activities. You can find it

Although O'Reilly discusses the book business, with an unexpected
paean to Barnes & Noble, his argument can realistically be
extended to the Toll Access vs. Open Access debate over how
exactly interest is generated in particular articles and books.
But see the piece; it's very good regardless of whether you make
the leap with me.
