Job Announcement: Head, USDA & Repository Unit National Agricultural Library

The National Agricultural Library (NAL) is seeking a Supervisor 
for the USDA and Repository Publication Unit (USDARP) unit. The 
purpose of the position is to manage and coordinate the receipt 
of publications in print and electronic format authored by USDA 
personnel to ensure that key research and other documents 
published by the Department are available within the National 
Agricultural Library's digital repository.

The incumbent will be responsible for management of receipt of 
resources in all formats published by the USDA for addition to 
the NAL collection. He/she will develop effective mechanisms for 
communicating with USDA researchers and other personnel to ensure 
that requirements are met prior to submission of materials. NAL's 
goal is to comprehensively collect in a digital format the 
publications of USDA and USDA authors.

The incumbent plans, organizes, schedules, supervises, and 
evaluates work performed by staff assigned to the USDA and 
Repository Publications Unit.  The incumbent directs technicians 
in planning work assignments, implementing procedures, reviewing 
quality of work in progress, and maintaining databases.  The 
incumbent is also responsible for approving or disapproving 
leave, giving performance evaluations and making recommendation 
concerning personnel actions.
