Here is the key assumption in Arthur Sale's posting:
Since the AM and the VoR differ in no essential respects
(otherwise authors would be in arms), the citation advantage
should trump prettiness.
If "prettiness" were indeed the only difference between the AM
and VoR, do you really think publishers would be so generous
about allowing the AM to be deposited in repositories? It just
boggles my mind that discussions about OA keep making the
assumption that copyediting does not occur or has no value.
