Call for expressions of interest for a study entitled
"Implementing a National Hosting Strategy for electronic
resources in Germany"
The German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft,
DFG), in association with the Alliance of German Science
Organisations, is commissioning a study to develop a national
hosting strategy for licensed publications and other digital
media, as well as for the large digital collections funded
through the DFG's digitization programmes. The study should
include the national and international context for such a
strategy.
The aim of the study
The study's objective is to analyze the status quo regarding the
establishment of a national hosting structure. This includes:
(1) an analysis of currently existing initiatives on a national
level and of existing international approaches, both centrally
and decentrally organized; and,
(2) to take into account the specific practical requirements
necessary for the effective and sustainable implementation of
such a strategy.
Furthermore, the study should detail possible scenarios for a
national hosting strategy and include a sound recommendation on
the strategy to be pursued by the contracting authority. The
study can be written in German or English.

with issues surrounding digital media, repositories and hosting
strategies.
