Colleagues,

	We are trying to negotiate the terms of the Journal of Molecular
Biology license agreement to meet some of the standards presented at the
ARL Workshop on Licensing.  Academic has replied that the terms of this
current license cannot be modified to meet the needs of a single
institution.  The terms we asked for were not Duke specific, (with one
exception which, they agreed to anyway.) There was some previous
discussion about the value of non-negotiable contracts for small
publishers, but Academic is not small. 

	Has anyone else tried to negotiate this license?  What has been
your experience to date with negotiating any license with Academic Press? 
We would appreciate your comments.
