Storing / deleting database records

Dear all,

A database producer has included two clauses in a draft agreement which
are causing concern....

--      user may store no more than x records electronically at any one 
        time
--      user must delete electronic records after x months

We feel it would be extremely difficult for the user to comply with these
conditions.

I would appreciate any comment and in particular hearing from anyone who
has come across similar restrictions while negotiating database access
agreements.
