RLIN DERIVED COPY CATALOGING: USE OF RLIN LI CTYA
CTYA is the generic RLIN LI for the following Yale cataloging units:
- British Art Center (CTYR)
- Divinity Library (CTYT)
- Government Documents Center (CTYY,CTYG)
- Graphic Arts (CTYG)
- Medical Library (CTYM)
- Music Library (CTYS)
- Processing Services(CTYG,CTYI,CTYX,CTYY)
- Social Science (CTYY)
- Southeast Asia (CTYG)
- All Orbis locations have been validated for use in CTYA.
The following cataloging units are excluded from use of
CTYA:
- Law library (CTYL)
- East Asian (CTYO)
- Processing Services: Near East (CTYH,CTYN)
- Manuscripts & Archives (CTYV)
PROCEDURES:
- All RLIN data base copy is to be derived in CTYA
- Local bibliographic notes are to be placed in RLIN LANT when
they are to display to public.
- Local bibliographic notes which are too long to be placed in
RLIN LANT may be placed in Field 590. All such notes must be preceded by
the Primary Orbis Location Code, given in full caps.
EXAMPLE: 590:: BEIN: [TEXT OF NOTE]
- Local processing information is to be placed in RLIN SHNT
preceded by the Primary Orbis Location Code (applies to Recon records
only)
- The RLIN output for records in CTYA will be Tape and NUC, no
shelf cards will be profiled for CTYA. Instructions for output will be
TZ.
- Standard conventions for deriving RLIN data base copy will
continue to apply with the following exception:
Do not derive from an RLIN acquisitions record (i.e. Fixed Field
RTYP is coded a)
