Bethany Music and Dance
and
Solstice and Equinox Celebrations

2008 Summer Solstice celebration: Friday, June 20, potluck supper 5:30 PM; bonfire about 9:00 PM
This is not a music party, but there will be drumming, chanting, singing & dancing by the fire
The next Bethany Music and Dance (BMAD) is Friday, June 27, 7:30 PM

Bethany Music and Dance (BMAD) parties are held once a month on a Friday night, beginning at 7:30 PM (please do not arrive before 7:30 PM.) Contrary to popular opinion, BMAD is not held on the same Friday each month but is planned around the schedules of the occupants of 312 Litchfield Tpke. The date of each month's party will be posted on this web site and on Bill's web site two weeks in advance. Bring a dessert or beverage to share. There is a lot of music and dance happening at each party, but you do not need to be able to play an instrument or sing or dance. The music parties are acoustic; please leave your amplifiers at home. Thanks for your cooperation.

The Solstice and Equinox celebrations are held the night of any given Solstice or Equinox. They begin at 5:30 with a potluck supper, followed by a bonfire around 8:00, with singing, chanting, dancing, and drumming around the fire.

All are held at 312 Litchfield Tpke. in a big brown converted barn set close to the road. We have 2 driveways. One has traffic cones and a small parking area. The other has a purple mailbox with 312 on it and leads down and back a ways to a larger parking area, although from the road it won't appear to be that large. If there's not enough room, you can park on either side of the road.  Just be sure that neither wheel is over the white line along the side of the road. If you get lost, call 203.393.3464.

Directions from downtown New Haven/Rt. 15

From downtown New Haven:
1. Go down Whalley Ave until it splits off into Rt. 69 and 63.
2. Bear right onto Rt. 69. Go under Rt. 15.

From Rt. 15:
1. Take exit 59.
2. Turn left at the end of the ramp.

3. Look for the gas station on the right and a Starbucks on the left.
4. Go straight on Rt. 69 for almost exactly 5 miles.
Then look for a cross ("+") intersection sign. Along the way, you'll pass several side road (sideways "T") intersection signs, and then a horse crossing sign. The next intersection (Hatfield Hill Rd) will be the only cross ("+") intersection.
5. After you cross the intersection (Hatfield Hill Rd) watch for driveways on the right. (You may also see cars parked all over the place.) The first driveway is not ours; the 2nd one (with the traffic cones) is ours. If there's no room to park, take the third driveway (with the purple mailbox).
If you find yourself at the intersection of Rt. 69 and Rt. 42, you've gone 3.2 miles too far. Turn around and follow the directions below, starting with #6.

From I-84
1. Eastbound: Take exit 26 and go right at the stop sign onto Rt. 70.
Westbound: Take exit 26 and go left at the traffic light onto Rt. 70.
2. Take Rt. 70 until it intersects with Rt. 68 (traffic light).
3. Turn right onto 68 and continue until it intersects with Rt. 69 (traffic light).
4. Turn left onto 69.
5. Go a few miles to Rt. 42 (traffic light) and go straight through the light.
At this intersection, Rt. 69 is called Carrington Rd. Shortly after Porter Hill Rd on the right, Rt. 69 changes to Litchfield Tpke
6. From the light at Rt. 42, go 3.2 miles and then watch carefully for a cross ("+") intersection sign on your right.
You'll have passed several side road (sideways "T") intersection signs, and this will be the only cross ("+") intersection after Rt. 42.
7. You will be very close to our driveways (on the left) when you see the cross ("+") intersection sign. (You may also see cars parked all over the place.) Go to the driveway with the purple mailbox, as there will likely be more parking than in the next driveway.
If you miss the driveway completely, just keep on going a little bit to the Hatfield Hill Rd intersection and turn around.
