DANCE REFERENCE GUIDE Davidson Library, UCSB This is a selected list of sources which should help you start your research on dance. Please note: while books specifically on dance are in the Davidson Library, materials on the history of music, including dance music are housed in the Arts Library. For further assistance, ask a reference librarian at the 1st Floor Reference Desk. COMPUTERIZED SOURCES USE PEGASUS & MELVYL, THE LIBRARY COMPUTER SYSTEMS, TO FIND BOOKS AT UCSB example: to find material on "dance production" At a PEGASUS terminal, type: k dance production At a MELVYL terminal, type: f tw dance production The "k" in the PEGASUS search is a KEYWORD search. If you find too much -- or too little-- try other "k" searches in PEGASUS substituting any word or words that describe your topic (e.g., k modern dance; k choreography; k Martha Graham, etc.). The "f tw" in the MELVYL search is a way of searching for "key" terms in a title. Try other "f tw" (FIND TITLE WORD) searches in MELVYL using different words that describe your topic (e.g., f tw modern dance; f tw choreography; f tw Martha Graham, etc.). If none of your searches work, go to the Reference Desk for some quick help or see the Dance Collection Manager.
