Catherine I (1725-1727)

Silver ruble of 1725 with image of Catherine I, wife of Peter the Great, who ascended to the Russian throne after his death. When she ascended the throne, Catherine relapsed into almost total inactivity in public matters, leaving the governance of her State virtually in the hands of her court favorite, Menshikov.
